Getting Started
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- Flik open and a project ready to work in
- About 20 min of focused time
- A willingness to experiment and learn by doing

Step 1: Create Your Project
Open Flik and you'll see the welcome screen.
- Type a simple project description: "My First Project" or "Learning Flik"
- Press Enter
- Your project workspace opens
What you'll see:
- Left panel: File browser (currently empty)
- Center panel: Workspace (showing empty state)
- Right panel: AI chat ready for your input
Step 2: Chat with the AI
In the AI chat panel (right side):
- Make sure you're in Agent mode (check the mode selector)
- Type: "What can you help me create?"
- Press Enter
The AI explains its capabilities. This gives you an overview of what's possible.
Step 3: Generate Your First Image
Now let's create something:
- Click the mode selector → Switch to Generate mode
- The model selector appears - keep default (Nano Banana Pro)
- In the QueryBar, type a simple prompt:
"A modern minimalist desk setup with laptop and coffee, natural lighting"
- Press Enter
What happens:
- Generation starts (you'll see progress indicator)
- After 10-30 seconds, image appears in your file browser
- You can click it to preview
Step 4: Organize in Canvas
Now let's use Canvas mode to organize visually:
- Click the Cursor icon (top-left) to switch to Canvas mode
- The center panel becomes an infinite canvas
- Find your generated image in the file browser (left)
- Drag the image onto the canvas
- It appears as an object you can move and resize
Try:
- Drag the image around
- Click corner handles to resize
- Rotate using the rotation handle
Step 5: Generate More and Arrange
Let's create a small collection:
