Introduction
Image generation is one of Flik's core capabilities. Whether you need product photography, interior design visualizations, character art, or marketing visuals, understanding image generation fundamentals will help you get better results faster.
Step 1: Switch to Generate Mode
In the AI chat panel (right side), click the mode selector and choose Generate.
What changes:
- Model selector appears (choose which AI model)
- Aspect ratio options appear
- Resolution/quality settings appear
- Count option (generate multiple at once)
Step 2: Choose Your Model
Flik offers multiple image models, each with different strengths:
- Nano Banana Pro: Photorealistic images, product photography
- Seedream 4.5: Artistic, stylized images, illustrations
For most uses: Nano Banana Pro is the best choice. It excels at realistic product shots, interior spaces, and professional imagery.
Step 3: Write Your Prompt
Describe what you want to create. Be specific:
Good prompts are:
- Specific about subject
- Describe lighting and mood
- Mention camera angle or perspective
- Include style keywords
Examples:
"Modern living room with gray sofa, white walls, natural light from large windows, Scandinavian style"
"Professional product photo of leather wallet on marble surface, studio lighting, clean background"
"Instagram-worthy flat lay of skincare products, soft natural light, minimal aesthetic"
Using Reference Images
Upload reference images to guide the AI:
- Click the paperclip icon or drag images to the input area
- Add 1-3 reference images
- These guide style, composition, lighting
- AI uses them to understand what you want
Reference images are powerful for:
- Product photography (upload your product)
- Style matching (upload aesthetic examples)
- Consistency (reference previous generations)
- Interior design (upload room photos)
Aspect Ratio Selection
Choose based on your use case:
- 16:9 (Landscape): Horizontal images, room photography
- 1:1 (Square): Instagram, product shots
- 4:5 (Portrait): Instagram feed optimized
- 9:16 (Vertical): Stories, Reels, TikTok
Step 4: Generate
Click the Generate button or press Enter.
What happens:
- Image generates (usually 10-30 seconds)
- Appears in your file browser when complete
- Automatically saved to your project
- Can regenerate with adjustments
Improving Results
If image isn't quite right:
- Click Regenerate to try again with same prompt
- Modify prompt: Be more specific about what needs changing
- Add reference images: Show examples of what you want
- Try different model: Switch between Nano and Seedream
Making variations:
- Use Count setting (x2, x3, x4) to generate multiple at once
- Compare results and pick the best
- Regenerate your favorite with slight prompt tweaks
💡 Iterative Process: Image generation is iterative. First generation gives you a baseline. Then refine the prompt based on results to get exactly what you want.
