Introduction
Flik's AI is your creative partner that can generate content, organize files, create documents, and execute complex tasks autonomously. Understanding how to communicate with it effectively will dramatically improve your results and speed.
The AI operates through the chat panel on the right side of your workspace, accessible in all view modes.
Three AI Modes
At the top of the AI chat panel, you'll see a mode selector. Each mode is optimized for different tasks:
Agent Mode (Default)
Best for:
- File manipulation and organization
- Creating and editing documents
- Analysis and text generation
- Complex multi-step tasks
- Project setup and planning
Example prompts:
- "Create a financial model for my SaaS startup - 36 months, track MRR and runway"
- "Build a 10-slide investor pitch deck"
- "Stage this empty apartment for real estate listing"
- "Generate 5 product photos for my e-commerce store"
- "Create social media content for my brand launch"
- "Organize these files into folders by category"
Generate Mode
Best for:
- Creating images with AI models
- Generating videos and animations
- Producing music and sound effects
- Visual content creation
Additional controls:
- Model selector (choose AI model)
- Duration settings (for video/audio)
- Aspect ratio presets
- Quality/resolution options
- Start/end frame inputs (for video)
Example prompts:
- "A cyberpunk city street at night, neon signs, rain"
- "Slow motion shot of coffee pouring into a cup"
- "Upbeat electronic music for a tech commercial"
Chat Mode
Best for:
- Quick questions and answers
- Getting advice and suggestions
- Brainstorming without file operations
- Conversational exploration of ideas
Difference from Agent mode:
- Chat mode won't create or modify files
- Faster responses for simple queries
- Uses conversational tone
- Good for planning before execution
💡 Mode Selection Tip: When in doubt, use Agent mode. It's the most versatile and can handle almost any request. Switch to Generate mode specifically when you want to create visual or audio content with AI models.
Using @Mentions
@Mentions let you reference files in your project, giving the AI specific context:
How to Use @Mentions
- Type
@in the QueryBar - A dropdown appears showing all project files
- Type to search or arrow keys to navigate
- Press Enter or click to select
- File appears as a chip in your message
Why Use @Mentions
- Faster than describing: "@product_photo" vs describing the image
- More accurate: AI sees the actual file
- Context-aware: AI understands relationships between files
Examples:
- "@logo when creating presentation slides"
- "@room_photo when visualizing interior design"
- "@product_image when generating marketing content"

Tips for Better Results
Be Specific
- Instead of: "Make a presentation"
- Try: "Create a 10-slide investor deck for my SaaS startup with traction metrics and financials"
Break Down Complex Tasks
- Instead of: "Create my entire marketing campaign"
- Try: "First, create product photos" → then → "Now create social media content using those photos"
Provide Context
- Upload reference images for visual consistency
- Mention your target audience
- Share relevant files or data
